About the Festival

Sussex SummerFEST is a two-week event celebrating the rich history and culture of the Sussex region from July 2 - 15, 2017. It features signature events (hosted by the organizing committee) and partner events (hosted by the community).

Canada 150: Celebrate our Story

The theme for our inaugural event is centered around telling our story for Canada 150. The region has a rich history with our murals, the origins of Camp Sussex, and our agricultural roots, and we're celebrating that with historical events and a production by The Tale of a Town.

The Organizing Committee

The organizing committee is composed of a diverse group of volunteers who want to promote the greater Sussex area. Coming from a wide variety of background and skill sets, they have come together to execute this endeavour. Below you'll find a few details about each of the committee members and their role within the project.

Co-Chair: Linda McCullum

Linda is the reason this project was started. She had a vision of a mural scavenger hunt (now one of our signature events) to draw people into the Sussex area to celebrate our heritage. As the committee came together the scope of our project increased into its present form, but we owe Linda for getting everyone into the same room and beginning this venture.

Lorraine answered the call to gather the troops. With her extensive Rolodex of community members she gathered many of the original committee members together to get the project off the ground.
